Private page numbering

The selected numbers are added as regular PDF text without flattening the pages. Previewing and processing happen entirely in your browser. The output is a rebuilt PDF, so keep the original if it contains a digital signature.

Planning numbering around front matter

The custom range selects physical pages, while Starting number controls the first printed label. To leave a cover and contents page unnumbered, select 3- and start at 1. The counter advances only across selected pages. In the fraction formats, the value after the slash remains the document's full page count, so Page 1 of 12 can appear on physical page 3.

Prepare the page order first

Numbering follows the PDF's current order. If pages need moving, rotating, duplicating, or deleting, make those changes with Organize PDF before adding numbers. Running this tool again adds another visible set rather than replacing numbers already on the page.
