Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
The short version: the files you process on LocalPDFLab never leave your device for processing. We do not receive or store your documents on our servers. Some tools save working drafts in your browser, as explained below. This page also covers the small amount of other information involved in running this website.
What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how LocalPDFLab ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with localpdflab.com (the "Site"). It applies to everyone who uses the Site, whether or not you use one of the PDF tools.
Your files
Every tool on this Site, merging, splitting, compressing, converting, rotating, organizing, adding page numbers, and adding watermarks, runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript. When you add a file to a tool, it is read and processed locally on your own device. The output file is generated locally too. At no point is your file, or any data extracted from it, transmitted to our servers or to any third party. We have no record of what files you process, what they contain, or how many times you have used a tool.
You can verify this yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, select the Network tab, and use any tool on this Site. You will not see a request that carries your file's contents anywhere.
Information we do not collect
Because there is no account system and no file upload, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or other contact details, unless you choose to email us
- The contents of any file you process
- File names, unless your browser includes them in a request you make yourself, such as emailing us for support
- Payment information, since the Site is free and has no paid tier
Local storage on your device
The Site remembers whether you have selected light or dark mode. This is stored using your browser's built-in local storage, stays on your device, and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data will reset it.
Create PDF automatically saves working drafts in IndexedDB, your browser's local database, as you edit. Drafts include document text, layout, and added assets such as images. This saving is automatic, not opt-in.Create Fillable PDF saves a draft when you choose Save draft or enable Automatically save on this device. Its drafts include the source PDF, field definitions, and default values.
These drafts stay in this browser and can remain after you close the tab. The Site does not encrypt them. Optional password protection for a downloaded PDF does not protect its saved draft. Use local drafts only on a device and browser profile you trust.
Create PDF provides Start over and a Discard option when offering to resume a draft. Create Fillable PDF provides Delete draft. To remove all saved drafts and cached application files, close the tool tabs and clear LocalPDFLab's site data in your browser settings. Clearing site data does not delete files you have downloaded.
A service worker also caches application pages and supporting files for offline use. It does not cache your selected documents or generated outputs. Application caching is separate from the local draft storage described above.
Cookies
At this time, LocalPDFLab does not set any cookies. If that changes, for example if we introduce advertising as described below, we will update this section first.
Analytics
The live Site includes the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon to measure page visits and page performance. These website metrics are separate from PDF processing. We do not send document contents, filenames, extracted text, PDF metadata, or passwords to analytics.
Cloudflare describes the service and its use of browser performance metrics in its Web Analytics documentation.
Advertising
LocalPDFLab is a free tool and is intended to be supported by advertising, most likely Google AdSense, once the Site qualifies for it. As of the date at the top of this page, no advertising has been enabled. When it is, this section will be updated, and it will disclose the following, in line with Google's requirements for publishers:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the internet
- You will be able to opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info
If advertising is enabled while you are a returning visitor, this updated policy will already be in place, since we update this page before turning on any new service, not after.
Server and hosting logs
Like virtually any website, the infrastructure that serves this Site to your browser (our hosting provider or content delivery network) may automatically log basic technical information for security and reliability purposes, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. This is standard server-level logging, is not tied to your identity by us, is not used for advertising, and is handled by our infrastructure provider under its own privacy and retention practices.
Children's privacy
LocalPDFLab is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the Site does not collect file contents or require an account, there is generally very little personal information involved in using it in the first place.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR (Europe) or the CCPA (California) regarding any personal information about you, for example the technical log data described above. Because we collect so little, most of these requests will have nothing to act on, but if you would like to ask a question about this, you can reach us through our privacy contact page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site changes, for example when we change analytics or introduce advertising. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. We encourage you to review it occasionally, especially before those features go live.
