How splitting works here

Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser, no files are ever sent to a server. Splitting reads the pages you select and copies them into new PDFs, without recompressing or redrawing anything, so quality and selectable text stay exactly as they were in the original. Page previews are rendered locally with PDF.js, while a JavaScript worker builds the output PDFs. You can see your document before deciding how to split it and confirm that the file stays local by watching your browser's network tab.

Choose the split mode for the job

Custom ranges work well for chapters, appendices, or several named sections. Turn on Combine all ranges when those sections should become one new PDF. Fixed chunks suit batches that need the same number of pages per file. Extract mode is better for hand-picked pages, and its separate-files option creates one PDF for each selected page.

Check page numbers after editing

Ranges and fixed chunk sizes use the current working sequence. Deleting or duplicating a page changes every later position, so finish those edits before entering ranges and check the highlighted preview. If the pages should remain in one file and only need reordering or removal, use Organize PDF instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the three split modes?

Custom ranges lets you cut out one or more page ranges, such as pages 1 to 3 and pages 8 to 10, each becoming its own file, or combined into one if you prefer. Split every N pages breaks the file into equal chunks automatically. Extract pages lets you click individual pages in the preview and pull out exactly the ones you want.

Can I delete, duplicate, or rotate pages before splitting?

Yes. Use the controls on any page, or select several with the checkboxes and use the buttons at the top. Ranges and page counts are always based on the pages currently shown, not the original file, so deleting or duplicating a page shifts the numbering for everything after it.

How do I download the results?

If splitting produces more than one file, you can download everything at once as a single ZIP archive, or download each resulting PDF individually from the list.

Is there a limit on how many pages I can split?

No hard limit is enforced. Very long documents take longer to generate thumbnails for and may be slower on phones or older devices due to browser memory limits.
