What each field means

Title
The formal document name shown by many PDF viewers.
Author
The person or organization responsible for the document.
Subject
A short summary of the document.
Keywords
Search and document-management terms separated by commas.
Creator
The application that originally created the document.
Producer
The software that generated or last saved the PDF.
Language
A language code used by some accessibility tools.

Private metadata editing

The file is read and rebuilt locally in your browser. Its visible pages are not changed and the PDF is never uploaded.

Metadata is not visible page text

These fields describe the document, but they do not rename the downloaded file, alter words printed on a page, or make a scanned document searchable. A PDF viewer may show Title instead of the filename and use Author or Keywords in its properties panel. To place information visibly on a page, use Add Text to PDF instead.

Check more than standard metadata before sharing

Clear all metadata blanks the fields shown here, but it is not a complete document sanitizer. It does not inspect annotations, attachments, custom properties, XMP packets, or visible sensitive information. Use Redact PDF for content that appears on a page. Saving also sets a new modification date and can invalidate an existing digital signature, so keep the signed original.

Frequently asked questions

Will metadata changes affect how the PDF looks?

No. Metadata is stored separately from visible page content.

Is the Title the same as the filename?

No. Title is an internal field that PDF viewers may display instead of the filename.

Can I remove metadata before sharing?

Yes. Clear all metadata blanks the standard title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, and language fields. It does not remove every possible XMP or embedded-file property.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Metadata editing is independent of whether pages contain text or scanned images.
